Since the launch of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of heroes, and a gripping narrative featuring divine entities, evil spirits, and sinister influences growing in influence within the city.
Heads-up: Revealing details for the third episode of the new season lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Introduced
The latest chapter concluded with a major cliffhanger and presented the initial group of heroes who will branch out from the central cast to undertake their separate journey, distinct from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table consists of the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
With a large ensemble, it was clear from the start that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
This explains, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, intertwining the individual narratives before dividing into three separate parties: Fighters, Planners, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
According to the DM, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who enjoy a traditionally charged battle-oriented narrative style where non-violent answers are few and far between.
At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might look unsuited, but the actions of episode 3 demonstrate why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the team knows exactly where to proceed after a violent opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose passing started the narrative’s action—used The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting Thimble, and stealing all the powerful objects to auction.
The traitor then cleared his liabilities and escaped to a fortified location in the northern region, above the city, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each member has a personal reason to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as the companion and trusted friend, seeks revenge.
- The adventurer has experience in Timmony and cautions that it is a hostile environment.
- The warrior and The cleric, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to kill Teor and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- However, their status as important members in the influential clan could assist the group enter locations they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, The grateful character vowed a eternal obligation to The cleric for his salvation and will now accompany him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are sought by the authorities that rule the setting for a range of causes, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- The rogue and The character are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and Wicander turned against House Halovar and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- The fighter is marked for death by House Halovar.
This leaves them no alternative but to head to the northern region in search of the antagonist.
Future Episodes
Based on episode three’s Cooldown, we find out that the combat party won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight participants to form the Questers and Planners tables.
Audiences can expect learning which characters will be assigned to which table in the story’s concluding setup installment, released on next week.
